Advertising campaign (2019)

We had the honor of participating in this campaign for DKMS, a global organization that fights against blood cancer. We had the mission of telling Matilde's story through an interactive campaign told through 21 brief capsules mixing live-action and animation. The first video is the story summary and you can watch the individual animated capsules below.

“Trazos” is my 220-page graphic novel. We follow the story of Simona, the promise of the national art scene until a complete failure makes her decide not to create anything again. Leaving everything behind, she tries forgetting she was ever an artist. But passion won’t die so easily.

The book was published by Editorial Planeta (Chile) in early 2019 and it’s currently in its 3rd Edition. We made the promotional trailer above, with the support of Planeta and a small team but a lot of passion to see this story animated.

Comissioned Short (2018)

"A Perfect Gift" is a commissioned short film we made last year for the Chinese company Pans Jewelry. The story behind this video is very special because it was part of a multi-media art exhibit held by Pans in Shangai, in which they asked kids to draw their imaginary friends, and featured their drawings along with jewelry pieces and plushies based on them. The exhibition included this short film, in which we were asked to create a story featuring the characters created by the kids. It was challenging to bring all these characters together, but we did it by being inspired by the themes of family and legacy that Pans Jewelry conveys with its brand.

"Here's the plan" ("Este es el Plan") is a 18-minute CG animated short film from Chile. Directed by Fernanda Frick and financed by the National Council of Culture and Arts, it took almost 2 years of work and a talented team of 32 professionals to finish it.
It had it's World Premiere at Nashville International Film Festival and it's national premiere at Festival Chilemonos 2017.

Selected scenes from the storyboards I made for my CG short film “Here’s the Plan”. These were made mid-2015 and the film was released in early 2017. You can watch the finished film here.

Raise the Bar

“Raise the Bar” is a tv series project that was developed with Netflix from September 2018 to April 2020. It features an underdog story centered around the victories and defeats of a group of Latin-American teenage athletes striving to reach the highest of sports achievements. The protagonist is Sam Sanchez, a stubborn teenager who wants to be Chile's 1st Gold Medallist in Weightlifting at the World Games.

About Me

Fernanda Frick (Santiago, Chile 1991) is an animation director, storyboarder, illustrator and comic artist. "Here's the Plan", her 4th short-film, was selected in various festivals around the world including Nashville International Film Festival, SANFIC, Chilemonos, Anima Mundi, CICFF and the Premios Quirino. It won the Jury Prize at SIGGRAPH ASIA . It was also long-listed for the 2017 Academy Awards. In 2019, she published "Trazos", her first graphic novel with Editorial Planeta and had a series project in development with Netflix. Currently, she manages her independent animation studio FFrick Studio.
